5th Grade Recognition

Today (Wednesday) was the 5th grade "graduation" for my oldest son!!

I am so proud of him and he was so proud of himself.

He got his 5th grade Diploma, the Presidential Award, all A honor roll for this year, an A-B honor roll trophy for the last 5 years, and another certificate which he has so happily taken off with & I can't remember what it was now ( someone please agree with me that this is still "mommy/post-prego" brain).

His Daddy, Pop, Nana, & other family members unfortunately could not make it because they all had to work, but we were SO pleased that Mimi was able to come and share in the festivities.

Keep up the good work Big D and always remember that Mommy may be hard on you on things about school but this right here is why...you so can do it and you are capable of it!!!

I am one proud Momma!!!

Surgery for....

Lil D!!

On Friday May 13th Lil D went into oupatient surgery for myringotomy and an adenoidectomy.  For those of you without a medical degree or any medical terminology knowledge this is tubes in the ears and adenoids taken out!

He was such a big, brave boy and was all smiles and flirting with the staff before the surgery.  The front desk staff was talking to him about his bear that he brought and then the nurses that took his vitals he flashed his huge, cute, flirtatious smile to them too & she commented on how adorable he is.

They got him in his very own room that had had very own sign on it.  When she was getting us settled she looked at Lil D and told him to get undressed all the way except for his undies.  Y'all, you should have seen his face-ha!!  Later on that evening while playing with some of his friends in our neighborhood he had told one of the girls about it!  One thing is for sure, he isn't shy- LOL!!!

One of the nurses gave him a choice of a model car, play dinosaurs, and something that had to do with planes.  He chose the model car and she told him that he can do that until it was time for his surgery or he could go play in the hallways/playroom they had set up.  The toys in the playroom were more geared towards children below his age so we opted to go back & work on the car.

When he walked back with the nurse, he waved at me like he used to when going to pre-K or on the bus and smiled then the doors closed and he was gone.

When they returned him he was resting, but woke up quickly to complain about the IV in his hand.  I told him we could go home once he kept down the spirit but he had to wait x amount of minutes.  He was smacking (due to being intubated) and kept complaining about the IV in his hand.  He stopped only long enough to watch a show I normally do not let him watch to say "Momma, I see now why you don't let us watch this!"  He's such a smart child!!

Lil D is still healing but is doing well.  He got to stay home on Monday, just to be sure he had enough rest, and went back on Tuesday.   He hasn't missed a beat on playing though and is exhausted by the time it is dark ;-)

Not Me, Monday!

Uhh, I mean Friday!!  LOL, this post is VERY late and I am very behind!

I defiantly did NOT sit on my bum on Thurs evening before traveling for my Niece's birthday party and saying "I need to go get her present, who wants to go with me?"  What did I do, I certainly did NOT continue to sit on my bum and suggest that my sweet hubby go get some yummy ice cream from McD*nald's.  No NOT me!!!

I also did NOT get up to my sister's home, lounge around talking to my sister and getting settled in, then sinking into my bed become wide awake because I had forgotten my niece's present.  NO, I didn't just forget it, I did NOT get it at all.  I am not that stressed and stretched that I would completely forget to get my nieces present.  Surely NOT me!!!

When we got home I did NOT continue to procrastinate on getting said present for about a week!  I mean I always do things right away & not wait until last minute, nope NEVER me!!

On the 13th, My youngest had surgery and his Momma (Me) defiantly did NOT forget to get a Dr's excuse for him that day!  I am NOT that flaky and would never forget anything as serious as that!  Nope, not me!! Speaking about school excuses I did get one when visiting our children's regular pediatrician and I did remember to get one, but I forgot to send it!!!

I certainly did NOT let my child that just had surgery help take care of/play with E & A less than 24 hours after surgery!  I am NOT that type of Mom and would NEVER give in to my child like that..no NOT me!! (*NOTE*  He did rest and did not play with them the entire time!)  He did it after he had rested alot and he rested after they left too.
